Mia Amber Davis Dies of Blood Clot

Mia Amber Davis died unexpectedly during routine knee surgery in May and a blood clot in her lung is being reported as the cause of her death. Mia was a plus-sized model  and also had a role in the movie “Road Trip”.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office released an updated death certificate after an autopsy and a series of toxicology tests were performed, finding that Davis had a pulmonary thrombo-embolism-a blood clot in the lungs.

TMZ is reporting that Mia’s husband Michael Yard believes that the surgery was responsible for the blood clot, claiming Davis was healthy before arriving at the hospital. TMZ is reporting that Mia’s husband asked the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office if she died as a result of the surgery, but the coroner’s office said they could not give a definitive answer.

Davis’ death shocked her family, supporters and co-workers two months ago. Mia was best-known for her work with Ashley Stewart, being the face of Jill Scott’s Butterfly Bra. Mia was also the creative editor-at-large for Plus Model Magazine.

Plus Model Magazine’s Editor Madeline Jones wrote this in a blog regarding Mia Amber Davis:

“Mia was a super model and industry leader because it was her love for the women she represented that kept pushing her when the industry itself did not embrace her. Anyone else would have given up, but Mia remained steadfast in her career, knowing that she was not just doing it for her own benefit, but for women of all ages. Never one to put anyone down, Mia was about lifting up people and connecting them with others to help them on their journey and never asking for anything in return.”
